Summer Tour 2019

As promised on our last post our story does have a happy ending. Even though we missed our Memphis, TN show at the High Tone we did manage to secure a Uhaul trailer and humped it all the way to San Angelo for Texas debut at the Dead Horse. We drove 14+ hours straight but we did make it!

Our Texas debut at The Dead Horse was simulcast on Dustin Tatro’s radio show KGNZ at Night across the state and streamed on social and YouTube. You can watch the show that evening on YouTube by clicking here. Thank you Melvin Settlemyre for the photos and filming the show. We appreciate everyone for making our Texas debut so great!

After crashing the night in Abilene, we took off to Norman, OK for our show at Calvary Chapel. It was a great night as we took the stage with Outside the Shadows. Special thanks to 107.1 KOUJ and Calvary Chapel of Norman for hosting, housing and feeding us. We met some of our local fans and some real disciples in Christ. It was also great meeting Captain Matt of God Rock on KKBS and our #superfan Kristi who drove over 4 hours to come see us in Norman, OK! We look forward to coming back soon to see you all again!

Thank you Preston Bell (guitarist / vocals) of Outside the Shadows for some great photos.

We closed our summer tour dates in Huntington, AR at The Good Fight. It was another great night of music and fellowship with the local youth. Thank you Travis Pettus for having us and feeding us. We will definitely be back to rock you again in 2020!

Thank you Jennifer Walter for all the great photos. Click here to visit her Facebook Page to see them all.

We made it home safe and we’re still finding and repairing damaged gear. But we have no doubt that it was a great trip and that the Lord was glorified!

Remember us in yours prayers as we hit the road again on our Fall tour dates to finish the Genesys tour.

Report on the Road Crash

Hey Faith Heads .. first we want to thank all of you that were following us on social media on the start of the last dates of the summer leg of the Genesys tour. Without your immediate support we wouldn’t have had the encouragement nor the financial support to push forward. We would thank you all individually by name but there are so many of you we’re afraid we might forget someone accidentally, but trust us we know who you are and are eternally grateful for your support.

People asked if we are going to setup a GoFundMe for this but it would take too long to get the money as we hit the road again at the end of August. Instead we’re asking to send any donations for repairs to faithheadband@gmail.com via PayPal. We hate to ask after everyone has been so generous but we’re up against the clock and insurance will only cover so much. We’re not wealthy people and don’t have label support. Any amount would be a huge assistance.

We keep getting asked “what happened” that day. We were driving down I-65 in Alabama to pick up our guitarist, Brian Montgomery, and were about 10 miles from his home. We noticed that Yukon started wobbling funny. We pulled over, checked all the tires on the Yukon and the trailer. We didn’t see anything wrong so we started rolling again. As we got about a half mile down the road we realized there was an issue. As we started to slow down to pull over the driver’s side rear tire blew.

As we tried to ease the vehicle off on to the side of the road the trailer started to fish tail. We slid into the grass as PFunk tried to keep us from flipping. As we slid to a halt the trailer broke from the hitch and started to flip. The trailer should have landed on top of us considering the laws of physics and the position of the vehicle to the trailer. Only by the mercy and grace of God not only did it miss our vehicle it rolled right past us.

After we all checked our underwear, we got out and thanked the Lord Jesus Christ that none of us were injured. No other vehicles were involved. We were all in shock about what had just happened and not sure what to do in the moment. After a few minutes of catching our breath we called 9-1-1 and started making phone calls. The police showed up after 15 minutes (thank God we weren’t injured) and wrecker was called.

We managed to unload most of our gear out of the trailer with it still on its side. We had to cut most of the ratchet straps to get the road cases loose.  Friends and family came to assist us to get our stuff off the side of the road. We had to go the wrecker yard to get the lighting trusses we couldn’t get from the trailer on its side, our luggage and personal items out of the Yukon. Special thanks to the wrecker driver for meeting us after hours to get our stuff.

While we were dealing with the wreck, Donny’s wife was driving his truck down from Chattanooga so we could either have a means to get home or continue. Once we got all the gear to Brian’s we started inspect all the guitars and equipment to make sure everything worked. We wouldn’t be able to test the lighting until we got it to our show in Oklahoma. After checking all the essentials we determined that we had everything we needed to continue forward. Running solely on adrenaline and the power of the Holy Spirit, the five of us piled into Donny’s truck.

If wasn’t for a local Uhaul representative we knew, the next part of the story would be much different. This person working from home, after hours, was able to get us a 6 x 12 trailer so we could load all our gear and get back on the road just before midnight. We drove for a few hours until we couldn’t go anymore and got a hotel.

Unfortunately, we did miss our show at the Hi Tone in Memphis, TN with Wither & Bloom. We will get a make-up date on the calendar as soon as possible.

We will finish the rest of the story in our next post. Needless to say, without our fans and several of our fellow bands and artists we wouldn’t have been able to accomplish the next part of this story. God bless you all!
